Not only did the major roads of Chennai closed , but also the approaching Cyclone Nivar has led the state government of Chennai to temporarily close for the time being. The city has efficiently prepared itself for the upcoming cyclone which will supposedly cross the coast . According to the latest updates by IMD , the cyclone will cross the coast between Puducherry's Karaikal and Tamil Nadu's Mamallapuram . This cyclone will make landfall not very away from the region of Chennai and it will be as a very severe cyclonic storm . It will occur in these regions in areas such as Madipakkam , Valluvar Kotam , Triplicane , Velachery and also the adjacent sides of the Mount road . These are the regions which have experienced some severe water-logging .
The authorities announced that the Chennai airport will remain closed from today evening 7 pm till 7 am Thursday . The roads leading to places like Thiruvanmiyur , Kasimedu Harbour , Besant Nagar Beach ,Marina beach and Pattinambakkam .
